This must be the longest I have ever taken to get my holiday blogpost up but I'm not even going to find excuses for myself. I'm going to be frank, my brain does not want to work. It's trying to embrace all the time it has left to rest before school reopens. And now, cutting to the chase…
Day 1
So I woke up in the morning feeling like P Diddy…… just kidding. I didn't really get much sleep the whole night so it was full out Groggy Town in my head. My mom, as usual, woke me up just before we had to leave so I had to rush rush rush. Then my dad was being cranky about us being 10 minutes behind our so-called "schedule". To make matters worse (matters meaning my dad's mood), we couldn't get a cab because there were cab-stealers aplenty. We had to roll our luggages all the way out to the main road.
So eventually, we got a cab and were on our way to the airport. We had the most unreasonably-priced breakfast ever at Burger King. It was 27 flippin' dollars for a breakfast set and two sandwiches and it wasn't even that great. The rest of the time was just spent at DFS. Mom finally bought L'eau Par by Kenzo and I looove it so much.
Our flight to Denpasar (capital of Bali) was at 1015 and it was going to take 2.5 hours. SHOOT ME. As much as I love travelling, I hate being on any flights longer than 1.5 hours. I love the adrenaline rush I get when we take off but that's it. I hate crammed seats, I hate the smell of cabin air, I hate having to sleep upright, I just hate the rest of the plane journey. Sometimes, the inflight entertainment makes the journey a little better, but we were flying budget air this time, the only inflight entertainment I had was that little kid that sat a seat away. Eventually she got on my nerves too, with all her whining and screaming.
The flight there felt like FOR E VER. Maybe it's cause I'm too used to the 1.5 hour flights to Penang. Anyway, when we finally reached and we had to look for a sign with my dad's name amongst millions of other signs. I felt like some superstar for a moment. That moment didn't last very long. We then had to drag our luggages for what felt like 5 miles to the pick-up point and finally hop into our driver's car (which felt like a furnace).
So our driver drove us to our first hotel of the trip, The Oasis Lagoon, located in the beach village of Sanur. We didn't do much after. Just checked in, headed out to have lunch, visit the supermarket, look up some private tours for tomorrow, had dinner and went for a dip in the pool at night.

Day 2
The day started out with a traditional Barong dance performance. The story is about the fight between the good spirit (the tiger you see below a.k.a Barong) and the evil spirit.
My mom WOULDN'T STOP imitating her after the performance.
Then we drove by the countryside to get to Tanah Lot temple. The padi fields were a magnificent sight. Seeing the farmers do their back-breaking work, it really makes me appreciate the rice I have on my table each day. A single grain of rice has to be under the loving care of the farmers for months before it's ready for harvest. (And yet we gobble rice down like it's nothing.)
Finally reached the Tanah Lot temple! There were some shops outside the entrance of the temple, which practically summarizes all the shops in Bali. Everywhere you go, they sell the same things…
This is the Tanah Lot temple! We had to cross the shallow waters (we can only cross at low tide) to the other side (right) where the temple was. You can see the little roof of the temple in the picture.
Lunch:
Bakso Ayam – noodles with chicken meatball
Next on our itinerary was the Uluwatu temple, situated on top of the cliff. I don't think I have any pictures of the temple though cause the view was stealing all its limelight.
My mom's face cause my dad kept yelling at her not to take anymore steps back or she would fall off the cliff HAHAHA!! And we all had to wear this "sarong" because we were in shorts and we weren't appropriately dressed for the temple.
This monkey is prying open a woman's shoe. Mischievous much?! I pity the woman whose shoe got stolen.
Dinner:
We ate at Jimbaran Bay, famous for its sunset and seafood. We didn't see any sunset because it was too cloudy and the seafood was so expensive!!! But I still enjoyed my dinner by the beach.
The posts on days 3 - 6 is coming up soon! I already have the pictures uploaded, I just haven't found the motivation to caption/narrate. I hope I do get it done before school starts or it will never ever follow through.
